Infrastructure Case Studies

Port Development in Plaquemines Parish – Devonshire developed a plan for the development of a major new port facility in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, along the Mississippi River. The site was located on the west side of the river at mile 55 from the mouth of the Mississippi. The site was approximately 40 acres protected by levees on all sides and had access by rail to the City of New Orleans and its hub for all six major railroads.• Monosep Corporation – Devonshire advised Monosep Corporation on a potential merger. The company had advanced technology for the treatment of “oily water” produced by onshore and offshore oil wells. The separated water was clean enough to discharge into the Gulf of Mexico or to be reused and re-injected in the oil wells. The captured oil could be blended with the produced crude oil and refined.

Remediation Services of America/Remediation Services of Louisiana – Devonshire founded Remediation Services of America, Inc. and arranged its initial financings. The company had technology that would treat grease trap waste from restaurants and other food service institutions. The process was a patented bio-remediation technology that separated the fats and other organic materials that could be sold and the resulting water discharged into the municipal sewage systems.

Knowaste – The company had operating facilities in Canada and The Netherlands with proprietary technology that treated diapers and similar hospital waste. The process separated the paper, chemicals, organic materials and water, all of which could be recycled commercially.

Tire Recycling – Devonshire advised several tire recycling companies to determine if their technologies and processes were economically viable. Without substantial payments to tire recyclers in the form of $x per used tire, it was virtually impossible for this technology to become profitable. The cost of the shredding equipment and its maintenance was prohibitively high and it was difficult to find consumers for the recycled components.

New Orleans Airport – Devonshire was asked to perform an initial forensic financial investigation which uncovered potential abuses later dealt with politically.

Student Housing Finance – Devonshire performed financial analysis for a major developer of student housing both on and off university campuses.
